Klimabonus 524 is a public subsidy scheme in Luxembourg supporting the installation of home battery storage systems connected to a photovoltaic installation.
A home battery allows you to store solar electricity produced during the day and use it later — in the evening or during periods of low sunlight. This helps increase self-consumption, improve energy independence, and reduce reliance on the electricity grid.
To be eligible for Klimabonus 524, the home battery must meet the following technical conditions:
The usable storage capacity must be at least 2 kWh, with no upper limit.
In an apartment building, the subsidy is granted only if the total power of the photovoltaic installation exceeds 1.5 kWp per private residential unit.
An additional home battery is eligible for a subsidy only five years after the purchase of the previous battery, based on the invoice date.
The Klimabonus 524 subsidy is subject to the following conditions:
The battery must be directly linked to a photovoltaic installation.
Electric vehicles are not considered home batteries under this subsidy scheme and are therefore not eligible.
The subsidy application can be submitted after the battery installation has been completed.
Eligible households may apply for a social top-up subsidy after receiving the decision granting the Klimabonus subsidy.
Applications must be submitted to:
